Mass Production complete!
3 months ago – Mon, Jan 15, 2024 at 02:18:02 PM

Hi travellers,

First of all, Happy new year!!!!

We are thrilled to announce that we reached another milestone: mass production was completed last week!!! We are officially entering the next phase: Fulfillment.

While there are a million pieces of paperwork to prepare, Gamesguest has informed us that the processing time is longer than usual due to increased shipments before the Chinese New Year (10th of Feb). We will keep you updated along the way!

If you read our last update, you probably remember that Echo and Julian visited the family in China. They also managed to take a tour of our factory and saw Wanderlust being produced with their own eyes. It was quite an experience, and we learned so much about the process, machines, and components. This helps us make better and more informed decisions when it comes to future projects! Huge thanks go to the Longpack team that planned the whole day for us! We really appreciate it!!

Here are some photos to show you guys, we hope you are as excited as we are!!!!

It is surreal to see our game in the factory being made alongside famous titles in the industry. It was such a motivation booster!!!

Very soon, you will be able to hold it and play it with your family and friends!!!

That is all for this time, and talk to you soon!!

Happy Holiday and photo dump
4 months ago – Fri, Dec 22, 2023 at 10:14:08 AM

Ho Ho Ho, travelers!

First of all, we here at Pektis Studio want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! No matter if you celebrate or not, stay safe and healthy with your family and friends, and play loads of games.

Though we do not have much to update since last week's update, we still want to take the opportunity to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This has been an adventurous year, full of hard work, excitement, ambition, overwhelm, stress, and, most importantly, gratitude. Never have we ever thought that three friends back in 2019 would be the start of a community full of love and support. We could not have started any of this without you! THANK YOU!!!

There is a lot more planned here at Pektis Studio for 2024, so just stay tuned!

Last but not least, we finally took the time to make some headshots for Wanderlust, and we want to share them with you this holiday season:

It looks gorgeous on the table; we cannot wait for all of you to hold this game in your hands!

We will update you again once the mass production is wrapped up in January. With all that being said, we are going to take a short break over the New Year to spend time with family and friends. (Echo and Julian will visit China; they might even tour the factory in Shanghai!!!)

That is all for this time and we talk soon!!

Short Production Update & Locking address
4 months ago – Thu, Dec 14, 2023 at 01:36:09 PM

Hello globetrotters!

First and foremost, we're thrilled to inform you that the manufacturing process is in full swing. Longpack has informed us that production will be wrapped up around the 5th of January. Julian has already started preparing the paperwork with our fulfillment center to make sure we save some time on the bureaucracy front and believe us, there are lots of papers to read and sign.

This leads to our next point: we will be locking the shipping address in the next 48 hours so we can export the files and hand them over to our fulfillment center. If you wish to change your shipping address, you can do so by clicking the Backerkit link we sent out earlier today. Feel free to drop us an email: [email protected]

or a Kickstarter message should there be any questions.

A little note: If you chose local pick-up, then you do not need to do anything.

All addresses are final after the 16th of December, and you will not be able to change your shipping address.

Once we sort things out with our fulfillment center, we will write to you again with an updated timeline since things are a bit hectic considering this time of the year regarding the factory and fulfillment.

Stay healthy and talk to you soon!

Bonus upgrades and mass production started!!!!
5 months ago – Sun, Nov 26, 2023 at 12:52:55 PM

Hello, travelers,

This is an exciting update! Mass production has begun! Woohoooo!

Over the past week, we received and reviewed the second digital print copy, and everything is perfect! Therefore, we have given the go-ahead to our manufacturer, and production has already begun on November 20th. This is another milestone in our journey that we would have never dreamed of two years ago.

Now, let us show you some of the improvements we have made for the second sample:

The bottom one is always the improved version.

1: Player board: Without out the fold line on the backside

Player Board: Top old, bottom new

2: Tokens: Added white outline so the graphics will pop out

Tokens: Top old, bottom new

3: Scoring sheet: Double sided print

Score Sheet: Top old, bottom new

4: Insert: Extra art paper glue on top for a smoother finish

Insert: Top old, bottom new

In addition, we have decided to go ahead and upgrade the paper thickness for ALL the cards from 300gsm to 350gsm, as well as the thickness for the reference sheet from 128gsm art paper to 250gsm art paper. These are a bonus upgrades from us to our backers, just as a thank you for all the support we have received since the beginning. We truly cannot do this without each and every one of you.

If you would like to see a video version of this update, you can go check out our video Here.

We will take a lot more photos over the next week, and you will hear from us soon!!!

Product Improvements!
6 months ago – Wed, Nov 01, 2023 at 03:02:46 PM

Hello travelers,

Some time has passed since our last update, but we have made significant progress in our preparations, allowing us to commence production in November. This update is rather long, so let's get started!

We have successfully completed the final rulebooks for Spanish and French. We finalized the paperwork with our Benelux localizer: Geronimo games as well as our Chinese localizer: One moment games(They will only have the retail version of the game). We've meticulously reviewed and refined our English and German rulebooks. Additionally, we've made minor graphic enhancements, mainly by enlarging the icons across the destination cards and player boards.

Most importantly, we've taken the time to review our pre-production copy sent by Longpack. We'd like to share some of the issues we've identified and the solutions we've devised to expedite production.

Overall, we are delighted with the digital print copy. Our manufacturer has done an excellent job of realizing our vision (you can find images from previous updates).

Now, let's discuss some of the issues that have given us less than complete satisfaction.

1: Player Board (Passports)

Originally, our player boards were crafted in the same manner as the world map. Unfortunately, this design led to a visible fold line on the backside of the player board when viewed at certain angles.

Since both sides will be in use, this is not ideal. Therefore, we have decided to switch from this wrapping technique to the traditional punch-out method, akin to our collectible tokens.

2: Punchout tokens (Collectibles)

Initially, our handmade prototype copy featured significantly smaller tokens. Here is a comparison photo:

Punchout Tokens

However, based on feedback from some backers, we learned that these smaller tokens proved fiddly for individuals with larger fingers. Moreover, for mass production, increasing the size of the tokens is essential to reduce the risk of production defects caused by cutter slippage.

In addition for mass production, we added the white outline for all tokens to add more contrast.

3: Cardboard Insert

Our cardboard insert currently has a rough finish, making it appear and feel like a prototype.

To enhance its aesthetics, we will add an additional layer of white paper on top to give the insert a smoother finish.

4: Scoring sheet

The initial scoring sheet was printed on one side only, and this seemed a bit wasteful, so we decided to upgrade to double-sided printing to make the most use out of 30 pages of the scoring sheet.

With all these updates and changes, Longpack has strongly suggested that we make another physical sample copy just to make sure nothing surprises us during mass production. We've decided to take the cautious route and make the second sample. We aim to make Wanderlust the best version of itself to give our backers the best we are able to. Once we approve all the components, mass production will begin. We can almost smell the newly opened shrink wrap!

We will keep you guys in the loop and wish you all a great day or night, wherever you are.
